On May 5 and 6, staff from NTIA’s BroadbandUSA program presented an overview of the Connecting Minority Communities (CMC) Pilot Program, a $285 million grant program for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs), and Minority-Serving Institutions (MSIs) or consortium applicants.
NTIA Grant Program: Broadband Infrastructure Webinar, Session 1
On April 28 and 29, staff from NTIA’s BroadbandUSA program presented an overview of the Broadband Infrastructure Program, a $300 million program to encourage partnerships between a state, or one or more political subdivisions of a state, and providers of fixed broadband service to support broadband infrastructure deployment to areas lacking broadband, especially rural areas.

17 million Americans lack access to broadband, including residents on 20.9% of Tribal lands and 17.2% of rural land, and lack of access to and adoption of broadband is the focus of ongoing efforts by the Department of Commerce to aid in the deployment of necessary infrastructure to communities with the greatest need. The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) is committed to supporting the Biden administration, partner agencies, states, Tribes, and industry to effectively expand broadband access and digital inclusion.

NTIA Grant Program: Tribal Broadband Connectivity Webinar, Session 4b
On Thursday, July 22, 2021, from 2:30 – 4:00 p.m. EST, NTIA and the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) will be co-hosting a webinar on “hot topics” pertaining to the Tribal Broadband Connectivity Program (TBCP) application. During this webinar the NTIA Tribal Broadband Specialist Team will cover the following “hot topics:” Workforce development, network sustainability, digital inclusion, technical and financial feasibility aspects of potential projects, the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and permitting.

On Wednesday, July 21, 2021, from 2:30 – 4:00 p.m. EST, NTIA will be hosting a webinar on the Tribal Broadband Connectivity Program (TBCP) application process. During this webinar, NTIA staff will present to potential applicants the standard forms and related documentation required for a complete TBCP grant application. At the conclusion of this webinar, NTIA staff will host a Q&A session for attendees.
