How to apply for funding

Every funding program has different application requirements. The most important thing is to read all of the instructions carefully. These are some general guidelines to help you through the application process.

Step 1

Identify your funding program

Look for funding programs that fit your needs. If you don't fit the criteria, you shouldn't apply. You can use our funding guide to look for programs that are right for you.

Step 2

Do your research

You'll need to provide information about your community's broadband needs. Use the tools on this website to help you get the data you need to answer any questions.

Step 3

Give yourself enough time

It may take you a while to gather all of the information you need and to complete your application. Make sure you plan your approach and give yourself enough time to apply before the deadline.

Step 4

Complete your application

Your application should be direct and easy to understand. Don't get sidetracked or provide responses that don't answer the questions. Make sure to answer all of the questions thoroughly.

Broadband Equity Access and Deployment (BEAD) Program

A program to support government projects for broadband deployment, mapping, and adoption.

Enabling Middle Mile Broadband Infrastructure Program

A program to fund the expansion and extension of middle mile infrastructure across U.S. states and territories. The ultimate purpose of this funding is to expand and strengthen U.S. high-speed Internet networks by reducing the cost of connecting areas that are unserved or underserved to the Internet backbone.

NTIA’s Digital Equity Activities in 2024 and What’s to Come in 2025

NTIA will host a webinar to highlight the work of the Digital Equity Program over the year and reflect on major milestones. Participants will discuss some of the digital equity research NTIA has conducted and the importance of data in guiding investments to promote digital equity in your communities. Finally, it will feature the work of the Digital Equity Leaders Network and new ways NTIA will support its grantees while continuing to engage with and provide resources to all digital equity leaders.

Every State and Territory is Ready to Implement Internet for All

NTIA has reached a major milestone on the road to connecting everyone in America to affordable, reliable high-speed Internet service. As of today, all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the five territories participating in the Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment (BEAD) program have approved Internet for All plans.  

These plans outline how each state and territory will connect every one of their residents to the Internet.

Digital Equity Native Entity Capacity Application Guidance Office Hours

At this office hours session, NTIA staff and subject matter experts will answer questions from prospective applicants, with the intent to prepare them to write high-quality applications. While this session is focused on Native Entity applicants, all potential applicants are welcome to attend. If you would like to send your questions in advance, please email them to digitalequity@ntia.gov.
