The OBGI and its New Mexico Broadband Program continue to expand and support broadband initiatives statewide. OBGI is helping the New Mexico Public Regulation Department (NMPRC) plan validation measures and obtain mapping resources for their Broadband Infrastructure Fund Program which allows them to grant up to $5M per year for Internet Service Providers. OBGI is also working with NMDoIT Enterprise Services to support their in-house mapping needs. NMDoIT is funding up to $30K for this project. In October 2015, the State announced the Governor's Broadband for Education an initiative to bring high-speed Internet access to every classroom by the 2018 school year. OBGI shares the State’s consolidated broadband related resources with New Mexico public libraries and participates as a member of their Taskforce for Libraries, which is part of the New Mexico Libraries Transform Initiative. The State is collaborating with the New Mexico Telehealth Alliance in leveraging  HealthCare Connect Funds for health care facilities.
