State broadband website(s):

The state of Michigan does not have an office dedicated to broadband. However, Connect Michigan, a subsidiary of Connected Nation and the Michigan Public Service Commission oversee broadband-related activities in the state.

State broadband contact(s):

Connect Michigan partnered with the Michigan Public Service Commission to launch a “comprehensive broadband planning and technology initiative as part of the national effort to map and expand broadband.” The program gathered provider data to inform statewide broadband maps and performed statewide business and residential technology assessments. It also worked with localities on community plans through the Michigan Collaborative Broadband Committee.

Connect Michigan and the MPSC continue to refine and validate broadband coverage for the state and provide guidance and technical assistance to communities, policy makers and others. In January 2018, Governor Snyder created the Michigan Consortium of Advanced Networks to create a broadband roadmap for the state. The Michigan Broadband Roadmap was released in August 2018.
