The Iowa Broadband Office, part of the Office of the Chief Information Officer, was established in 2015. This office manages: a property tax exemption program designed to provide property tax exemptions to the installation of new broadband services in targeted service areas of the State (those U.S. Census blocks where no carrier provided 25/3 Mbps service); a fiber optic network conduit installation program designed to make carriers aware of road construction projects taking place in the State; and a broadband grant program designed to make grant funding available to telecommunications providers working in targeted service areas.
