State broadband website(s):

The Indiana Director of Broadband Opportunities reports to the Lieutenant Governor and works with state agencies to coordinate broadband efforts across the state. Other state agencies with jurisdiction on statewide broadband programs include the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs and the Indiana Economic Development Corporation.

The Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA) administers Next Level Connections Broadband Program that is designed to bring reliable broadband services to unserved areas of Indiana. OCRA also administers the Broadband Readiness Pilot Planning Grant program funded through the Community Development Block Grant program. The Indiana Economic Development Corporation oversees the Broadband Ready Communities program. The Broadband Ready Community certification sends a signal to the telecommunication industry that a community has taken steps to reduce barriers to broadband infrastructure investment.

Funding for broadband:

Governor Holcomb established the Next Level Connections broadband grant program in early 2019, allocating $100 million toward offering grants for providers to bring broadband services to unserved Hoosiers.  Approximately $22 million in funding was awarded to unserved areas in Phase 1 of the program.



State Broadband Plan: Lieutenant Governor Suzanne Crouch’s office is proceeding with a new Statewide Broadband Strategy in 2019.
