The Illinois Office of Broadband within the Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity is the state’s office dedicated to broadband-related activity. The ILDoIT oversees the Illinois Century Network (ICN).

During the 2019 legislative session, the state established the Connect Illinois Broadband Grant Program. In addition, the state manages the Illinois Century Network (ICN). This network , provides broadband and Internet connectivity to all state agency locations and a number of community anchor institutions, including K-12 schools, libraries, higher education, research institutions, museums, and municipalities.
